She wears fairy wings on her back,
Her best friend is a twelve-year-old boy,
And they live in a world all their own.

Tink is all angles and points.  All skin and bones with sinewy muscles in between.  Wendy is all curves with a plump waist and a pretty, freckled face.  She is the first girl to ever challenge Tinkerbell, and Tink hates her.
She hates her brothers too.  John is about Peter's age.  He is one of those kids too smart for his own good, and not afraid to show it.  Tink hates those kids.  Michael is cute enough, although he complains too much- "The ground is so muddy" or "Wen-dy! I think a mosquito just bit me!" Wendy, the fool, coddles him and then trasks Peter an annoying question, usually coupled with a compliment like, "So, do you live on a farm? I love farms."  Tink doesn't understand what Peter sees in this family.
They are leading the pretty little family to Neverland.  Tink and Peter's Wood.  How dare Peter invite here here?  But Peter is all whims and fancies, Tink knows that.
They are at Peter's house. Peter's father is waiting for him; his black hair is swirling in the wind, his prosthetic hand resting lightly on his hip.  He has an ominous look to him and Peter tells Tink to lead them to the Wood.  Tink agrees, but what she's thinking is:
Like hell I'll lead them to the wood.
She tells them she needs to run ahead and tell the boys they're coming.  She tells them not to worry about finding the camp, they can't miss it. There is a little path that will lead them straight where they need to be.
She leaves Wendy and her brother's at a run.  Soon all of the boys come into view.  Slightly is leaning against the tree, cutting at a piece of wood with a knife.  When he sees Tink he runs up to her.

"You eaten today?" He asks.

Tootles is eating a sandwich, which Slightly grabs from him and holds out to Tink.  She stares at the half eaten sandwich in disgust.  The boys stare from Tootles, to Slightly, to Tink (all of the boys that play with Peter and Tink have been given nicknames.  Tink can't remember how or why this came about, but she can't remember their real names so it is of little matter to her.)

"Peter is bringing a girl here," Tink says simply.

Her words immediately capture the boys attention.  Peter as never brought a girl to the wood before.  She says that this is a game, and this girl is a hostage.  Hostages are always killed, she insists.  They must kill this Wendy girl.
The boys are used to games like this and, at ages 10 and up they don't ever need much encouraging to 'kill' anything.  They hide with sticks and toy guns.  Tink retreats to her treehouse the boys built for her to watch the goings on.
When she knows she's by herself, she lifts up her shirt and looks at the bones of her ribcage.  Her skin form-fits to them perfectly.  You can count every, single one.  She runs her fingers across her skeleton-like torso, wondering what's wrong with it.  She never liked eating much and she always was a particularly plump child.  This way she doesn't have to worry about eating or her weight.  Stupid Slightly reading too much into things.
Soon Wendy and her brothers come into the wood, bringing Tink out of her thoughts.  They are pelted with water and challenged to battles with sticks.  Tink eggs the boys on mercilessly.  She watches in contempt as Wendy falls to the ground, hit in the chest by a suction cup arrow.  Tink watches the chaos in self-satisfied pleasure.  Wendy will never come back after this.
Her pleasure isn't long lasting, however.  Soon Peter flies onto the scene in a rage.  The confusion is quickly sorted out and the boys are lined up military style so Peter may inflict is rage on the perpetrator of the fight.

"Tink said..." Nibs starts, but Peter quickly cuts him off, calling to Tink.

Tink grimaces and climbs regally out of her tree house, unashamed.  She looks down at Peter haughtily, daringly.  Peter looks up at her sternly.

"Tink," He says dangerously."Did you tell the boys to do this?"

"Maybe," She says simply, inspecting her nails.

"Tinkerbell, you are banished!" Peter cries. "Forever!"

Everyone gasps.  Tink looks at Peter with wide eyes and an open mouth.  Peter has banished the boys before, but never, ever Tink.  How dare he?  And over this stupid girl!  Wendy looks up at Peter, tugging on his hand.  Peter looks down at her with a gentleness that infuriates Tink.

"Not forever," Wendy pleads, her big brown eyes wide with some kind of self-righteous charity. "She didn't mean for it to get this out of hand."

Peter smiles down at her.  Tink can see the pleasure on Peter's face, he loves this banishing game.  What he doesn't know is that this girl is just trying to get on his good side, she is sure of it.  Why does this girl try?  Tink will always be Peter's favorite.  She will always be the Queen of this forest.

"All right," Peter says at last. "But for a week!"

Tink glares at them then takes of the tattered fairy wings she wears and folds them under her arm.  The boys look even more shocked and Peter's mouth literally drops open.  Those are the wings that Peter found for her the day after Halloween last year.  The boys haven't seen her without them since.  Before anyone says anything she turns on her heel and walks away.  She knows he would have allowed her back in a few days regardless, stupid Wendy thinking he had really banished her.  She can't believe Peter listened to her.  She can't believe he shortened her banishment period.  She can't believe she was saved by a twit like Wendy.

"Stupid ass," she mutters.
Done for a writing competition. We were supposed to take a well known childrens character and add a modern twist to it. I love doing things like this! I'm actually re-writing a whole bunch of fairy tales. ANYWAYS. I adore Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, so this is what I came up with. And I know I didn't do the kiss thing or the thimble/acorn thing with Peter and Wendy but I had to keep it short (and it's pretty long) so I didn't. Hope you enjoy(ed)!

(I don't know if anyone caught the reference to Cpt. Hook at the beginning)
